The Salesforce.com Foundation Hits New Heights in Europe

Almost 400 nonprofits and higher education institutions in EMEA using donated licenses of Salesforce to revolutionize their organizations

Salesforce.com employees in Europe give 5,000 hours of their work time to charity

LONDON - salesforce.com Dreamforce Europe user conference - May 7, 2008 - The Salesforce.com Foundation, the global leader in integrating philanthropy and business, has announced that at present almost 400 nonprofit organizations and higher education institutions in EMEA are using donated licenses of Salesforce to better serve their missions. UK charities Teach First and Business in the Community, and the Alzheimer Society of Ireland, are using Salesforce to run their organizations more efficiently as part of salesforce.com's unique 1/1/1 integrated corporate philanthropy Model where 1% the company's time, 1% of its equity and 1% of its product are donated to nonprofits www.sharethemodel.org.

In addition to providing donated applications through the Foundation, salesforce.com employees have been donating up to six days of their work time annually as part of 1% of the company's time. In Europe alone, salesforce.com employees spent 5,000 hours of their work time giving back to the community in 2007.  By the end of 2008, the company expects 7,600 hours will have been given to a wide variety of community organizations in Europe, including mentoring young people, fundraising and helping the less fortunate. Some employees choose to donate their technical skills to help nonprofits, such as The British Red Cross, effectively use Salesforce, and the Foundation has granted equipment and installed technology centres at Citywise Ireland and the City of Dublin YMCA.

Many of salesforce.com's European implementation and product partners such as Astadia, SofiaWorks, SaasPoint, Westbrook International and iPayment Solutions have joined the Salesforce.com Foundation's "Power of Us" initiative to integrate philanthropy into their own businesses, and have donated their products and services to nonprofits such as Landmark Training, London Remade and the Mitchemp Trust.

"The last 12 months have really gained in momentum for our product donation program in EMEA, particularly in the UK, Ireland and Israel," said Isabel Kelly, director of the Salesforce.com Foundation in EMEA. "Inadequate technology wastes the limited resources available to nonprofits. We donate our product to increase capacity and efficiency in the charitable and higher education sectors so that they can focus on their social mission."

"This year, salesforce.com is hosting the first ever Dreamforce Europe on May 7 and 8 in London. One hundred nonprofits will attend at a discounted rate and attend sessions focussed on their unique use of Salesforce. They are an integral part of the Dreamforce experience," continued Kelly.

Other Foundation activity at this year's Dreamforce Europe include:

  • May 6 - Young Enterprise London volunteering event for  50 customers, partners and employees mentoring 100 young people
  • May 6 - evening networking event for nonprofits
  • May 8 - keynote by Peter Gabriel, founder of human rights organization WITNESS
