BizAcademy Reflection - San Francisco April 2009
Chamreun K participated in the Spring 2009 BizAcademy in San Francisco. He refelects on on his experience with the program.
My name is Chamreun K, and I was one of the BizAcademy participants at salesforce during spring 2009. I had used most of my spring break time to join BizAcademy and I was so glad to be a part of this program. From the BizAcademy program, I gained a lot of skills such as public speaking, open and close questions, good and bad presentations, and networking. What challenged me from this program are how effectively I use this skill to communicate with our customer, and have professionally consulting with investor, and how to present an inspiring presentation. However, from this program the things that benefited me the most is society life style and business skills, which taught me to be ready step in the real world in the next few years after my graduation.
By being a president of BlueForce, it was my honor to lead the most talented youth on my team. I had learned to manage my group, and have effective listening and communication skills. It helps me understand the strength and weakness of each and everyone in my team. Furthermore, I learned to manage the right position for each one of them to succeed in our goals. My team worked very hard in the interview with the customers in order to get information about company intercommunication.
From my experience, when the first question came out asking the investor for money, my team had the lowest score than other teams. At that movement, my team felt a little depression with the result but we all still kept up our hard work to reach our goals. We felt that we needed to find out the weakness point and work harder to improve it. Even though we had the lowest score at the first round, we did not give up because it was just the beginning of the game. As a president of BlueForce, I had disappointed at myself that I should done something better.
After I came home, my feeling was still depression but I told myself that winning and losing is not important. The most important thing is that I can learn something new and most importantly, as a president I could not let my team down. When I went back the next day, my team brought up a new hope and we worked harder together again. Finally, the final presentation came up, we put all energy into our presentation in order to make the audient pay more attention to us. In this second round, I felt my group had done a very good job on the preferment than the other group. Finally, we were paid back from all of our hard work for the presentation, we won it!
I felt that this program is really helpful and I’m glad that I participated in this program. BizAcademy took me a step toward my goal which is to become a Business Manager. One thing that I wish from SalesForce is to give more opportunity for more youth to participate in next year, because it will navigate youths/teenagers to have a goal and dream career.
