セールスフォース・ドットコムは4月9日（金） 、ホープ・インターナショナル主催のチャリティパーティーに企業スポンサーとして参加しました。このパーティーでは、ブラインド・オークション、サイレント・オークション、ライブ・オークション、抽選会、コンサート、カンボジアでの活動を収録したビデオ上映などが行われました。このパーティーで集まった資金は、カンボジアの農家のための井戸建設や牛の貸与に使われます。井戸があれば、農家は衛生的な水を入手できるだけでなく、遠くまで水を汲みに行く必要がなくなります。また各農家に牛一頭を貸与することで、農地の肥沃化や耕作に役立てることができます。子牛が生まれたら、親牛は保護地に返し、子牛は各農家で飼い続けることができます。
ビデオ上映会ではトック・ウエンさんという女性が紹介されました。この方は、５年前までは土地もお金もなく、希望を失っていましたが、現在は、当団体が提供した牛と井戸によって自立した幸せな生活を送っています。大盛況だったオークションと抽選会では、カンボジアの農家に井戸と牛を提供するための資金が何千ドルも集まりました。
ホープ・インターナショナルは、正しく持続可能な慈善活動を理念に掲げています。現地の農家を直接訪れ、農作業の改善に必要なものを提供することで、彼らの生活の質の向上を手助けします。参加した全員がこのパーティーを楽しんでいる様子でした。抽選会やオークションで集まった資金により、さらに多くの井戸や牛が農家に提供され、有効に使われることでしょう。

Salesforce.com Japan office was happy to participate as a corporate sponsor in Hope International's charity fund raising dinner last Friday, April 10th. The dinner included a blind auction, a silent auction, a live auction, a raffle, music entertainment, and a video about the work volunteers with Hope are doing in Cambodia. The money raised will go to projects that help Cambodian subsistence farmers by building them wells and lending them cows. The wells provide a source of clean water and save the farmers time that would regularly be spent collecting water from more distant places. A single cow that Hope lends to a family is invaluable for fertilization and plowing, and once that cow produces a calf Hope places the adult back into its reserves and the family keeps the calf.
This year the film featured a woman named Toek Ouen, who just five years ago was landless, penniless and hopeless. Today she is happily self reliant, thanks to a cow and a well made possible by supporters of HOPE. The auctions and raffle were very successful and raised thousands of dollars for more wells and cows for more Cambodian farming.
Hope is going about the philanthropy the right way, the sustainable way. They go directly to rural farmers and help them get what they need to improve their farming which eventually increases their standard of living. I think this event was fun for everyone, and the money raised through the raffle and the auctions is going to provide a lot of wells and a lot of cows for families who will put it to great use.’
